USA Importing Considerations
- Aluminum scrap (HTSUS 7602.00) currently enters the USA duty-free under most tariff lines — confirm with your customs broker against the current HTS.
- Section 232 tariffs on certain aluminum products apply to primary forms, not scrap, but tariff classification disputes do happen — clear HS code declaration on the BL prevents holds.
- EPA does not require an import permit for non-hazardous metal scrap, but TSCA self-certification may apply for some industrial drops.
- ISRI grading is the de-facto US standard; our packing lists use ISRI codes by default.
- Insurance: ICC(A) at 110% of CIF is standard.
