Pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is arranged at our Rotterdam yard on the buyer's request. SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, CCIC and TÜV are all welcome. The buyer instructs the inspector directly and we invoice the inspection cost at actual — no opaque mark-up. Below is the standard PSI workflow applied container-by-container.

After contract signature and 30% TT advance receipt, the buyer issues an inspection instruction directly to SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, CCIC, TÜV or the agency required by the importing country (BIS for India, CCIC for China, TSE for Turkey, SASO for Saudi Arabia). We share the loading window, container numbers and yard address so the inspector can plan attendance.
On arrival the inspector verifies the material against the agreed specification, draws representative samples for XRF and wet-lab analysis, witnesses the container stuffing sequence, records container and seal numbers, photographs the loaded cargo and the closed sealed door, and confirms the net loaded weight against the calibrated 60-tonne weighbridge ticket. Each step is recorded in the inspection report.
Sampling follows ISRI Circular guidance and the buyer's contract specification. For non-ferrous: minimum five spot samples per container, blended into one composite sample for laboratory analysis. For stainless: minimum five XRF readings per container with hard-copy printout. Sample weights are recorded; retained samples remain at our yard for 90 days.
Once the inspector clears the cargo, the inspection certificate is issued — typically within 24–48 hours. The certificate accompanies the commercial invoice, packing list, weighbridge tickets, photo dossier and bill of lading. Bill of lading is released against the remaining 70% TT payment or LC at sight, depending on the contracted terms.
Certain importing countries require their own inspection regime: BIS (India) for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, CCIC (China) for non-ferrous re-classifiable material, TSE (Turkey) for ferrous and non-ferrous, SASO (Saudi Arabia) for some streams. We arrange the destination-mandated inspector through the buyer's nominated PSI agency, ensuring the certificate format and stamp meet customs clearance at the destination port.
