    What Is Brass Honey Scrap?

Brass honey scrap (ISRI designation: Honey) is clean, uncoated yellow brass comprising roughly 65% copper (Cu) and 35% zinc (Zn), corresponding to the CuZn35/CuZn37 (C27200/C27400) alloy family. It is one of the most traded brass scrap grades globally due to its high copper recovery value and versatile metallurgical applications.

Honey brass typically originates from plumbing fittings, valves, decorative hardware, musical instruments, and ammunition casings. The material must be free of iron, aluminum, manganese bronze, and plastic attachments. Clean honey brass is directly meltable in induction or crucible furnaces without pre-processing, which makes it highly desirable for Asian brass ingot makers and foundries.

As a Netherlands-based brass scrap supplier, Nautica sources honey brass from demolition projects, plumbing contractors, and scrap processors across Western Europe. Our quality team performs visual and spectrometric sorting before export to ensure consistent composition shipment after shipment.

    Brass Honey Scrap Applications

Brass honey scrap is recycled into a wide range of industrial and consumer products. Its favorable copper-to-zinc ratio makes it an ideal feedstock for secondary brass production.

    Brass Ingot Production

Melted and cast into ingots for foundry use — plumbing fixtures, valves, and fittings.

    Copper Recovery

Electrolytically refined to recover pure copper cathode from the brass alloy.

    Zinc Oxide Manufacturing

Zinc recovered from brass fumes used in rubber vulcanization and ceramics.

    Ammunition Components

Recycled into new cartridge cases and bullet jackets for defense applications.

    Decorative Hardware

Re-cast into door handles, hinges, and architectural fittings.

    Electrical Connectors

Processed into terminals, pins, and socket components for the electronics industry.
