What is Busheling Scrap?
Busheling (ISRI 200) is new, clean, uncoated steel scrap generated from stamping, punching, and shearing operations in manufacturing. It is the highest-quality grade of ferrous scrap and commands a premium over HMS and shredded steel.
The term "busheling" originates from the historical practice of collecting factory clippings in bushel baskets. Today, it refers to any clean, new production steel scrap free of coatings, oil, or contaminants.

The key characteristic: all busheling is new (never used) steel, generated during manufacturing, with no coatings or significant contamination.
Chemistry

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between busheling and HMS 1?
Busheling is new, uncoated factory clippings with very low residuals. HMS 1 is obsolete (used) heavy steel with higher contamination. Busheling is significantly more expensive.
Why is busheling so expensive?
Its new, uncoated nature and ultra-low copper/tin content make it irreplaceable for automotive and flat product steel. Limited supply from manufacturing operations keeps prices elevated.
Can busheling be shipped in containers?
Yes. Baled busheling (#1 Bundles) ships efficiently in 40ft GP containers at 25–27 MT per box.
What ISRI code is busheling?
ISRI 200 for loose busheling; also coded as No. 1 Bundles when baled/compacted.
Is busheling available from European suppliers?
Yes. Europe's automotive and appliance manufacturing generates significant busheling volumes. Contact Nautica for availability.
