UBC Scrap Supply Line to India

India is now the world's third-largest market for Used Beverage Can scrap, with strong demand from secondary aluminum ingot plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab. UBC scrap, classified under ISRI codes Taldon (baled) and Talk (loose), is the workhorse feedstock for can-to-can recycling and deoxidising shot production for the Indian steel industry.

Nautica Metal Scrap B.V. consolidates UBC at our Zandvoort yard from collection partners across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. We grade, blow, dry and bale to a consistent 500 kg ±5% bale weight, then load 22–24 MT per 20-ft container for direct export to Indian ports.

Every container is XRF-verified, moisture-tested below 1%, free of steel, free of food residue and free of plastic contamination — the four contamination categories that Indian smelters reject most often when buying from less disciplined suppliers.

Built for Indian secondary aluminum ingot manufacturers, deox shot producers, can-sheet recyclers and IEC-holding scrap importers that need a clean, repeatable UBC supply line from Europe.

    India Importing Considerations

    • UBC enters India under HS 7602.00 with 2.5% BCD and 18% IGST — claimable against output VAT for registered manufacturers.
    • PSIC is mandatory under the Hazardous & Other Wastes Rules 2016 — Nautica issues a SGS/BV report formatted to MoEFCC requirements.
    • Importer must hold a valid IEC, GSTIN and MoEFCC registration for non-hazardous metal scrap.
    • Containers must show clean radiation readings (below 0.3 μSv/h) — we scan twice, at yard and at terminal.
    • Food-contact aluminum must be free of liquid residue at loading; we air-blow every bale at the press.
