Aluminum alloy wheels scrap — clean de-tired cast A356 wheels prepared for export from Rotterdam

    Why Aluminum Wheels Scrap?

Cast aluminum alloy wheels are produced almost exclusively from the A356 family (AlSi7Mg) — a heat-treatable aluminum-silicon-magnesium alloy with excellent castability, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance. Because the alloy chemistry is highly consistent across the global automotive supply chain, used aluminum wheels are one of the cleanest and most predictable secondary aluminum feedstocks available.

For secondary smelters and ADC12 producers, properly prepared aluminum wheel scrap delivers 95%–98% recoverable aluminum after melt losses, requires minimal alloy correction, and can frequently be re-melted directly into new wheel billet. Buyers in China, India, and Vietnam pay a premium for de-tired, de-balanced, contamination-free wheels.

Every wheel we ship is inspected and prepared at our Rotterdam-area facility — tires de-mounted, steel balance weights chiseled off, rubber valves removed, and any lug-bolt residue stripped. We do not export wheels with tires or contaminated wheels.

    Aluminum Wheels Scrap FAQ

    What is aluminum wheels scrap?

Aluminum wheels scrap (ISRI Troma / Trump grade) consists of clean cast aluminum alloy wheels from passenger cars, light trucks, and motorcycles, with all steel weights, valves, tires, and lug attachments removed. The alloy is typically A356 (AlSi7Mg) or A357 — a heat-treatable casting aluminum with 7% silicon and small magnesium content, ideal for re-melt into wheel-grade billet or ADC12 die-casting alloy.

What is the recoverable aluminum yield from wheels scrap?

Clean, de-tired, de-balanced aluminum wheels scrap yields 95%–98% recoverable aluminum after standard smelter dross losses. Because the alloy composition is consistent (A356 family), it can often be re-melted directly into new wheel billet with limited alloying additions.

Do you remove tires, weights, and valves before shipping?

Yes. All wheels are inspected and prepared at our Rotterdam-area warehouse: tires de-mounted, steel balance weights chiseled off, rubber valves removed, and lug-bolt residue stripped. We ship clean, dry, contamination-free aluminum wheel castings — never wheels with tires.

Can you supply Troma or Trump grade specifically?

Yes. We can split shipments by ISRI Troma (mixed clean aluminum auto castings) and Trump (mixed aluminum casting and wrought) on request. Most secondary smelters prefer the Troma cast-only mix; chemistry sheets are provided.

What is the minimum order and payment terms?

Minimum order is 25 MT (1 x 20ft container). Standard payment terms are 30% TT in advance plus 70% LC at sight against shipping documents, or 100% LC at sight for vetted long-term buyers. Monthly export capacity is up to 600 MT of aluminum wheels.

    Container Loading Capacity

Loaded weight per container is calculated on a calibrated 60-tonne weighbridge at our Rotterdam yard. Photographs and bridge tickets accompany every shipment for aluminum wheel scrap (troma).

    Quality Assurance Process

    1. 1

      Gate inspection

Inbound trucks weighed and visually graded against ISRI master samples before unloading.

    2. 2

      Yard re-sort

Material re-sorted by alloy family, photographed lot-by-lot, and segregated to grade-specific bays.

    3. 3

      Magnet & XRF check

Magnetic separation removes ferrous contamination; XRF spot-checks confirm alloy chemistry.

    4. 4

      Pre-load audit

Container floor lined, weight target confirmed, stuffing sequence photographed with timestamps.

    5. 5

      Third-party inspection

SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, CCIC or TÜV inspect on buyer request before bill-of-lading release.

    6. 6

      Seal & document

High-security bolt seal applied; seal number printed on packing list, B/L and inspection certificate.

    SGS & Intertek Inspection

Pre-shipment inspection is arranged at the loading point on the buyer's request. SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, CCIC and TÜV are all welcome at our Rotterdam yard — the buyer instructs the inspector directly and we invoice the cost at actual.

The inspector observes stuffing, draws representative samples for XRF or wet-lab analysis, photographs the loaded container, witnesses the seal application and issues the inspection certificate prior to bill-of-lading release. Destination-mandated certificates (BIS for India, CCIC for China, TSE for Turkey) are arranged where required.

    Buyer FAQ

    Are tyres and valves removed?

Yes. All rubber tyres, steel valve stems and balance weights are removed before stuffing. Magnet pass confirms no ferrous attachments remain.

    What chemistry should buyers expect?

Typical A356/A357 chemistry: 6.5–7.5% Si, 0.25–0.45% Mg, with low iron. Suitable for direct re-melt into secondary wheel ingot or sow ingot.

    Do you remove the paint?

Painted wheels are accepted as-is. Buyers requiring thermally de-coated wheels can specify; this is offered as a premium service.

    Can wheels be cut?

Yes — wheels can be cut into quarters for higher container density on request. Standard loading is whole wheels.

What percentage of the wheel is aluminum vs balance weight?

Post-detachment, 98%+ of container weight is A356 aluminum. Lead balance weights, steel valve stems and tyre residue contribute less than 2% and are removed prior to weighbridge.

Do OEM alloy wheels and aftermarket wheels ship in the same cargo?

Yes — chemistry is virtually identical (A356/A357). If a buyer requires OEM-only for a downstream OEM-spec wheel ingot, that is arranged as a segregated premium sub-grade.

What LME percentage do Troma wheels trade at?

Troma wheels typically land at 84–88% of LME primary aluminum, CIF Asian port, reflecting the low-iron A356 chemistry that suits direct re-melt into secondary wheel ingot.

    Are chrome-plated wheels accepted?

No. Chrome-plated wheels contain hexavalent chromium in the plating layer and are excluded from the Troma stream. They ship separately at a discount if requested.

How is weight verified — with or without tyres?

Weight declared on the bill of lading is post-tyre-removal, weighed on a calibrated 60-tonne weighbridge. A tyre-removal photograph accompanies each container.

What is the typical container payload?

22–24 MT of whole wheels in a 20'GP; 24–25 MT in a 40'HC. Quartered wheels can push a 20'GP to 25–26 MT if the buyer accepts the +USD 20/MT cutting fee.

Can turnings from wheel machining be supplied?

Yes — A356 machining swarf is offered as a separate cargo (briquetted). Suitable for foundries with rotary furnaces; not co-loaded with whole wheels.

    Which foundries typically buy Troma?

Secondary wheel ingot plants in Turkey, India, Vietnam and China are the primary buyers, along with automotive foundries in South Korea and Thailand.
